What I Wore Wednesday

I've been meaning to link this up for awhile now. I just realized that I don't usually remember to take a photo of my outfit for the day, only because it is usually something horrendus.
And isn't that the dang idea of WIWW???? To keep us out of hoorendou clothing?

I do generally stay in a strange combo of workout pants and a tank top for the beginning of the day, unless I am up super early alone and have time to shower before the kid wakes.
Eeenyways....

Heeeey, look! A comfy tee and yoga pants! And my nearly ever-present Sally mug of coffee!
I look REALLY bloated.

Off to do laundry at mom's.

Blush and bangs. Much better. Joe's Jeans, boatneck sweater from Gap. This was Monday , I was off to class with Milo.

There you go. Nice to see you, WIWW peeps!!!

Welcome to My Randomness

I have a fancy wedding to attend the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
This excites me and makes me incredibly nervous for a number of reasons.
Excites: ahi tuna lollipops as passed hors d-oveures*. Seeing my old FIFCO friends. Seeing a girl I truly do love marry a guy that mimes adding machine in the air while he talks about adding machines (he's funny). Having a fancy date night with my husband whom I love. Potentially dancing my ass off.
Incredibly NERVOUS: This will be Milo's first overnight away from home (terrifying for me, really). I do not have a dress.
A
 a
  a
   a
    and the tangent begins.

First of all, the fact that my first worry is immediately followed by my second pisses me off. But we will get to that in a second. This event is one that calls for sequins. A not-long sequined dress that costs no more than $30. And does not require me to wear supportive undergarments. And is maybe not completely black. I saw one at the TJ Maxx in Mundelein this past weekend. Milo approved. But on that day I had pushed my dear darling's limits, and he lost his shit well before we made it to cashwrap. I may very well make the drive back out there today to get it. (no, it was not at the store near my house). This dress totes set the bar. If I get it, I'll post photo. Bah.
SECOND OF ALL.
I have really been struggling with something for the past few whatevers. It may have to do with PMS, it may be God working within me to remove sin. Regardless of WHAT it is; know that this is no plea for sympathy or bijh-bijh-ing. I get the feeling this is a test, and I want to be up for it.
I am a terribly selfish person. TERRIBLY. The thought of my selfishness truly makes my stomach turn. I keep score. I am constantly asking, 'Whens gon be MAH TIME??'
It sucks.
It really feels like there is a devil on my shoulder. His claws dig into the tendony flesh and I feel warm sticky drops of blood drip down my front. They pool in my armpit and soak into my bra.
His breath is hot and smells of burnt meat. He whispers things into my ear. Things I never want to hear again in my life.
I feel really sinful. More so than when I actually WAS a lot more sinful. Heh.
So this is helping:
'Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you...'
Acts 3:19-20 (NIV)

Yep. I'll close with that. Have a great day, gnomies.
*I spelled this right on the first try, but I can never remember the first 'r' in surprised. GO figure.

Music and Musings

I cannot stop listening to this song-thank you very much Elizabeth...

The husb does NOT like it, heh heh. He called it 'spacey girl music'.
Yeah, man. YEAH.

So...worky work work...last night it was CUH-RAY-ZEE slow. As anyone who works in a service industry will tell you, slow nights suck hard. They go slllllowllllly and you don't make any monies.
I was standing in the doorway of our shop handing out free samples.
This is interesting on a number of levels. There are the people who look right through me and walk away. There are the people who look at me, look at my shop sign, and shake their head; refusing the sample. Because, you know...WHO THE HECK WANTS A FREE SAMPLE FROM A NATURAL HANDMADE COSMETIC STORE?????? YUCKY!!!!!!
Then there are the folks who were looking for a reason to come in. The people who shake your hand and genuinely thank you for talking to them and introducing them to the products.
I like those people better. But I wish they would BUY SOMETHING, because they usually don't. Booo.

Working on finishing some sewing projects and will post photos of them soon. I am crossing my fingers that I win some ruffle fabric from Katy at No Big Dill. There's a skirt I REALLY want to make, and the fabric is a little pricey.

I am really liking the color palette I see for fall, and I wish I had a disposable income to buy cute clothes!!
*guess what I am asking Santa for...*

I am freakin HUNGRY!!!!!! Spring rolls for dinner do NOT keep you full very long.
Milo and I have a playdate today with two of our favorite girls. EXCITING!!!!!!!!

Styleeeeee

As most of you know, I am home with a toddler nearly every day. Or I am OUT with a toddler. Every day.
I dig the hell out of my kid, but he puts a cramp in my formerly hella stylish...style....
Many women will say that havin a bebeh should NOT compromise one's style, and to an extent, I agree.
However, I generally end the day with some sort of schmutz on my right shoulder and cat hair on my pants. I use that as an excuse to let some kickass clothings get lonely in my closet.
WIKE DIS:
VERY pale pink (I know, it looks white. It isn't) cotton blazer from H&M a million years ago. I'd like to shorten the sleeves, but don't want to lose the button detail and am scared of turning it into a hack job. I DO want to remove the lining though-it makes me sweat.

Floral velvet wrap dress from Betsey Johnson from another million years ago. The background is red with purple roses. The last time I remember wearing this out was to some hippie show at Durty Nellie's (coughcough ...about ten years ago). With giant platform boots that I REALLY miss. Those babies pushed me over six feet. sigh.
Hey there dirty bathroom mirror! Hi!!!

This hat. Oh, this hat. Words really can't do it justice. Yes, I am in a bathrobe.

White wool over red wool with cutouts on top and inside the brim. The label inside reads Archie Eason and this was purchased at a vintage store in Minneapolis (I forget the name, but I'm pretty sure its on Lyndale). I have no idea who Archie Eason is or was, but DAMN.
You would think I would find reasons for wearing this cool shit. But I can't. When you live in the suburbs, people will look at you funny and not speak to you when you wear, oh, say...a red velvet dress with purple flowers, or a bitchin cutout hat. (plus, I'm really not a hat person. But I will keep this baby foreves)
Well, time to go drag myself into workout clothes and shoes.
Also, can I PLEASE say that 1220 calories is NOT VERY MUCH!!!!???
My bestie Dana shared a wise observation with me. We (she and I) lack what we call 'the skinny girl' gene. The gene that says, 'I really want a Whopper with cheese for lunch, so I am going to have a Fiber One bar for breakfast and a salad for dinner.'
Our genes sound more like this:
'Hey man, chips are GOOD. You should eat more of them. Also, ask for a side of ranch to dip your fries into.'
SWEET BALLS, MAN!!!!!!

Ugh. My final random observation for the day:
Jai Guru Deva Om.
Sanskrit for (loosely translated)Victory to God Divine.
'Across the Universe' is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It contains the kind of beauty that brings a tear to my eye and an appreciation for creation to my heart.
Namaste, bitches.
